Anyone Can Invest In Real Estate
A mere decade ago, the notion of becoming a real estate investor wasn't even on my radar. After all, wasn't the stock market the go-to route for building wealth? It wasn't until I ventured into the world of real estate, obtained my license, and encountered fellow investors that I realized the potential. These investors, often astute and modest in their lifestyle choices, steadily built wealth by amassing rental properties.
I, too, wanted to steadily build a similar wealth.
My First Investment Property
Five years ago, my husband and I decided to take the plunge and acquire our very first rental property, a rather unattractive fixer-upper in Bainbridge for a mere $164,000. While it may have been far from glamorous, it was an opportunity too good to let slip by. Our journey as landlords had begun, and it soon became apparent that there's more to real estate investment than meets the eye.
I was amazed that in all my years of school, life, and even being a realtor, how little I knew about investing and the benefits and struggles that a landlord takes on, but., had I known it all sooner, I would not have waited until my 50s to buy my first investment property.
Here is a photo of the Bainbridge fixer-upper in the condition and appearance we bought it in, as well as a picture of the same home after we gave it a transformative makeover.
A Real Estate Book You Should Read
Everyone on The Amy Team has read "The Millionaire Real Estate Investor" by Gary Keller. It's a book that delves into the fears that budding investors often confront and emphasizes that opportunities and wealth reside on the other side of those apprehensions. It underscores the importance of building a supportive network to aid in the development of your real estate empire.
We believe in the truths of this book so much, that we now give copies of it to our clients who are considering investing in real estate.
